1. 여기 모인 누군가는 범인을 알 테고 양심에 가책을 느끼며 살 수는 없는 법이라고 했다.
나의 영작) He said that someone among us would know who was the criminal, and you can't live with the gulit.
모범 답안) He said someone in the auditorium knew who was responsible and that it
was terrible to live with a “guilty conscience.”
2. 그래서 난 이 공공기물 파손 사건은 헛소리에 불과하며 우리가 잘못한 것은 아무것도 없음을 다시 한 번 상기시켜 주었다.
나의 영작) I reminded him that the event was just a bull-shit and we didn't need to feel responsible for anything.
모범 답안) At lunch I could tell Rowley was really freaking out, so I reminded him that this “vandalism” thing was a lot of baloney and we didn’t really do anything wrong.
3. 하지만 라울리는 전과가 있으면 대학도 못 가고 직장도 못 구해서, 인생이 엉망이 될 거라고 했다.
나의 영작) But he said that if he was prisoned, he wouldn't go to school and get a job, which makes his life wasty.
모범 답안) But Rowley said if he got a criminal record, he wouldn’t be able to get into college or get a
job and that his whole future would be ruined.
4. 시간을 좀 걸렸지만 그래도 난 이 녀석을 진정시켰고, 모든 것이 잠잠해 질 때까지 기다리자고 했다.
나의 영작) It took a while but I relaxed him and said that we had to wait for all the things to calm down.
모범 답안) It took a while, but eventually I convinced him to just stay cool and wait for the whole thing to blow over.
